Hōkuleʻa arrives in Mossel Bay along the southern coast of South Africa. Researchers believe humans who inhabited the area between 170,000 and 40,000 years ago became the lone surviving human inhabitants of the earth living off a diet of shellfish, fish and wild plants, forming the ancestral part for all humanity.
