Wood Veneer for exterior use

This is not normally recommended, after all veneers are just 0.6mm thick any abuse or weather finding its way under the veneer will most probably cause it to lift.

This Dragon class yacht is dated 1956 and came third in the Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.

The owner wanted a varnished mahogany coach roof top, we supplied the wood on wood flexiveneer
its easy to work with and as you can see took the compound curve very well.

The adhesive was a contact glue, we know it was well applied to both surfaces, the recommendation was to use two coats to each side, the first being as a primer. We now have a contact glue that can be left to dry, it is then re activated with a heat gun or hair dryer, when both surfaces are put together, the bond is INSTANT!

How easy is that?

The surface must still be protected with a twin pack lacquer, such as International Paints Perfection Plus, in the case of this boat, it has a light grey canvas cover over it when the boat is not being used. The work was done a year back, its still in fine condition.

Blue halyard line, made in Cape Town

Made here and sold world wide!

The South African sun ate up the British made Marlow halyard, mind you that was after a dozen years in the weather.

P600 polyurethane glue in a tube

We will be stocking the moisture cure waterproof glue known as P600.

It is a waterproof 1 part Pu based adhesive. The quick cure
time and the expanding features allows for excellent bonds in
woodwork and lamination. APPLICATIONS P600 is ideally suited
as a bonding agent for the adhesion of the polyurethane foam, polystyrene
or rubber to fabrics, melamine, chromadek and other facings.

How easy can that be, one glue suits many applications!

Toilet treatment fluids for RV homes, boats and campers

This has been a product we have had an eye on for some while, is there any local interest I wonder?
We can handle trade enquiries to South Africa.

For a carton 10- X sachets each capable of treating a 20-litre cassette toilet, if the tank is larger they just use 2 or more.

http://www.biomagic-uk.com/page8.html

All you do is drop them in the water in the tank or bowl and the bag dissolves within minutes then allows the powder to mix with the water in the tank and is enough to treat a full 20-litre cassette. For larger holding tanks you simply add more bags.

Pricing will be posted later.

Stainless deck fittings

We have offered quality fabricated 316 stainless steel boat fittings for many years, as long as the boats designer has the engineering drawings we can have the parts CNC cut, welded and then polished.

Hello Roy:  Parcel arrived today.  Excellent workmanship!  The brackets are very sturdy.  'Paid a UPS driver directly a 'Broker Fee' of $36.47 (USA).  Thanks so much!  Grateful, as always,  Fred

Fred is in Seattle, USA, we supplied the Cape Henry 21 boat plys CNC cut first, then part of the 316 stainless deck package, with this being the remainder of parts required to complete the boat.

We send via the postal service or courier, the buyer is given the costs and he makes his own choice as to which service he wants.

Two days back we shipped a complete 316 stainless deck package out to another customer, this time to Sweden and the Cape Cutter 19 design.

The Winter Solstice will be tommorrow morning

This will be for South Africa.

Information was supplied by http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/june-solstice.html

The June Solstice

An example of what happens during the June solstice. Illustration is not to scale

June 21 2013 at 5.04 AM UTC

Local times for solstices worldwide ▸

The June solstice is known as the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice the southern hemisphere. The date varies between June 20 and June 22, depending on the year.

Varying dates

In the Gregorian calendar the June solstice dates vary. For example, it was on June 20 in 2012 and falls on June 21 at 5:04 AM UTC in 2013. A June 22 solstice will not occur until June 22, 2203. The last time there was a June 22 solstice, was in 1971.

The varying dates of the solstice are mainly due to the calendar system – most western countries use the Gregorian calendar, which has 365 days in a year, or 366 days in a leap year. As for the tropical year, it is approximately 365.242199 days, but varies from year to year because of the influence of other planets. A tropical year is the length of time that the sun takes to return to the same position in the cycle of seasons, as seen from Earth. The exact orbital and daily rotational motion of the Earth, such as the “wobble” in the Earth's axis (precession), also contributes to the changing solstice dates.

How simple!

Jorgens Cape Cutter 19 build

For a change this is not being built from one of our CNC cut boat kits. The licence to cut them was stopped when the design in GRP was bought out, so we now offer the popular Cape Henry 21 as a CNC okoume marine ply kit. I suppose we may be licenced to hand cut a Cape Cutter 19 bulkhead set but by hand?

The bulkhead kit and hand cut by Jorgen, thats a lot of work, looks well done.

The CC19 is a smaller version of the Cape Henry 21, which is 10% larger.

The frames set up and ready for the next stage.

All pictures supplied by Jorgen.

We have just packed the 316 stainless steel kit for this boat, which makes Sweden our thirty forth (34) export country now.

Stone Form samples

One blog viewer asked about samples that are metallic, we have a number of these either in silver or rust.

The sample on the right has its clear plastic cover removed, the others still have them on.

The center three samples are quite metallic, how do they do this!

Bent wood furniture maker

We can advise on making furniture using Superform bending plys and veneers.

The options are endless, you may have a design of your own or have seen one that can be copied?

We import by the container load, three thicknesses, being 3mm , 5mm and 8mm , with the grain being either long or short. The veneer sheets are all long grain and are bonded wood on wood but just 0.6mm thick, its very flexible and easy to handle.

Stone Form floor tiles

This is a use that's sure to please, seen here the tiles look just like solid stone tiles.

We are now well used to laying plastic wood look a like flooring, now we can lay stone floors in a fraction of the time and at a much lower cost!

I will try and turn the picture around just now, click on it for a larger view.

Mail from a blog viewer and in England has just come in.

Roy,

If that as available here in tile form like that pic, I would rip all the carpets up and have that laid right through the house in every room! I would have gone for real stone but they are too cold in our long winter and even Dion admits that the real stone tiles in his lounge, halls, kitchen and bathroom are too cold in your mild winter so this stuff has to be the answer as the backing has to act as an insulator, I too am exited and can't wait to find out how much it costs?
