The day Hout Bay Yacht Clubs marina turned over
The crew and Elvis, the skipper of the Hout Bay fishing boat Sout River, the skipper is center in the picture, all pictures taken by R McBride using a Sony 5.1 cyber-Shot digital camera.
The pictures show the day after and a local fishing craft named Sout River (salt river)that came to rescue the main spine from one side of the marina to the other, technically it was a great piece of seamanship, the trawler tried lifting with his hydraulic winch from both sides, the skippers control of the boat was finger tip perfect!
The marina tip over was due to a really bad easterly gale hitting the walkway side on,the floats had not been strapped in,they moved and over went our walkway, the problem is well sorted now.My thanks to Gavin off Dolphin and the skipper and crew of the fishing boat Sout River for being so helpfull!
